Les galapiats: Who are they? What do they do?

In 1964, Pierre Monnier brought together some suburbs kids. Ten years later he became the founder of the association TEAM les galapiats that is a unique experiment in the world.
The association purpose is "the child and teenager development by the manual work and driving apprenticeship since childhood."
The 10-16 years old galapiats don’t give tools to the adults, they design, build and drive themselves their racing cars replica scale 2/3. Ex- galapiats and passionate adults surround them.

Since its origin, the TEAM les galapiats has created few models and trained more than 800 children to the different techniques used in the automobile industry.
Of course, our 25 little galapiats are supervised by an adult team which co-ordinate the activity and propose the development axes. They perpetuate « the galapiats spirit », and work up the experience continuation.

Les galapiats is an association, which is ruled by the 1901 law (in France). It exists owing to the adherents, and it wouldn’t reach its actual level without sponsors.
In fact wealthy sponsors and fabulous budget are not necessary. GRENOBLE Town lends us an 800-m² workshop. So, some firms give natural helps, which are very consistent.
